Judicial proceedings will be recorded and available to the public
Islamabad: The federal government has approved the Supreme Court Practice and Procedure Amendment Ordinance 2024 on Friday.
The Federal Cabinet approved the Supreme Court Practice and Procedure Ordinance through circulation.
On the other hand, the Supreme Court Practice and Procedure Amendment Ordinance has also been approved by President Asif Ali Zardari.
According to the ordinance, in case of non-availability of a committee member, the Chief Justice will be able to nominate a judge as a member. Under the Practice and Procedure Act, three-member committee benches will be constituted.
It is also reported that the implementation of the amendment ordinance will prepare a transcript of any proceedings in the judiciary.
According to the reports, with the implementation of the Supreme Court Amendment Ordinance 2024, the judicial proceedings will be recorded and available to the public.
The Supreme Court in its judgment of October 11, 2023 had declared sub-section II of section V of the said law unconstitutional. The right of appeal against the order issued under clause III of article 184 of the constitution has also been included in the ordinance.
