Rawalpindi: Police released PTI leaders Barrister Gohar Ali Khan and Salman Akram Raja shortly after detaining them in Rawalpindi on Saturday.

Both leaders were travelling to Rawalpindi when the police stopped their vehicle near Sector H-13 and took them into custody. The law enforcers bundled both the chairman and the secretary general in a van, the PTI said in a statement.

PTI founder Imran Khan had announced a protest in Rawalpindi today. PTI initially planned to hold a rally, but it later turned into a demonstration.

Meanwhile, the Rawalpindi administration placed containers at the city’s entry points ahead of the PTI protest planned at Rawalpindi's Liaquat Bagh against controversial constitutional amendments related to the judiciary.

Hundreds of police officers have been deployed at various locations across the city and adjoining areas to prevent PTI workers from reaching the venue.
