6,381 out of 6,949 beds kept in govt hospitals for COVID patients unused

As many as 304,545 COVID patients have been recovered in the public sector hospitals being run under the control of Punjab Specialized and Primary & Secondary Healthcare departments, while 130 patients have recovered during the last 24 hours.

Secretary Specialized Healthcare Punjab Barrister Nabeel Ahmed while giving details said that a decline in the wave of Corona pandemic was witnessed in the province.

Out of 6,949 beds reserved in all government hospitals for coronavirus patients, 6,381 beds are lying unoccupied. 

Likewise, out of 1,355 beds reserved in government hospices of Lahore, 1,193 beds are vacant so far.

The Secretary SHC&MED said that the department has arranged 3,099 beds in Isolation wards across Punjab, out of which, 2,965 beds are vacant.

He told that 346 beds for corona patients are reserved in isolation wards set up in government hospitals of Lahore and 322 beds are unoccupied.

In addition, 3,133beds are also reserved in HDU for patients suffering from Covid-19 in all the hospitals of government and 2,815 beds are vacant while, in hospitals of Lahore, 763 beds reserved in HDU and 675 beds are unoccupied, Nabeel Awan added.

The Secretary SHC said the health department has arranged 717 ventilators for COVID patients in all provincial government hospitals, of which 116 ventilators are under use while 601 were vacant. 

Around 241 ventilators are reserved in Lahore government hospitals, of which 45 are occupied and 196 are vacant, added Nabeel Awan.
