According to the news agency, former US President Jimmy Carter died on Sunday afternoon at his home in Georgia. He was 100 years old.

Jimmy Carter, a peanut farmer from Georgia, was the 39th President of the United States. He belonged to the Democratic Party and served as President of the United States from 1977 to 1981.

As President, Jimmy Carter struggled with a poor economy and the Iran hostage crisis, and he mediated for peace between Israel and Egypt.

This was why Jimmy Carter was also awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2002 for his efforts for peace.

The former president won a seat in the Georgia State Legislative Assembly and then won the election of Governor of Georgia in 1971.

Later, in December 1974, he announced his candidacy for the next presidential election and won this election in 1976.
