He joined Pakistan Navy in 1955


Islamabad: Former Naval Chief and former Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee Iftikhar Sirohi has passed away.
According to the Pakistan Navy spokesperson, Admiral (retd) Iftikhar Ahmed Sirohi passed away in Islamabad. He was the Chief of the Pakistan Navy from 1986 to 1988. Iftikhar Sirohi was also the Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee from 1988 to 1991.
He joined the Pakistan Navy in 1955. He also participated bravely in the Indo-Pakistan wars of 1965 and 1971 and played a key role in defending the country's maritime borders.
Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf has expressed condolences on the death of Admiral (retd) Iftikhar Sirohi. He appreciated his valuable services to the Pakistan Navy and said that Admiral Iftikhar Ahmed’s services to the country will always be remembered.
Admiral Iftikhar Ahmed, the tenth Chief of the Pakistan Navy, was born in Karachi in 1934. He belonged to a family from Lucknow.
He was awarded the Nishan-e-Imtiaz (Military), Hilal-e-Imtiaz (Military) and Sitara-e-Bisalat.
Admiral Iftikhar Ahmed Sirohi’s autobiography has been published in English under the title “Truth Never Retires”.
