FO spokesperson said that measure of suspending water would be tantamount to war

Islamabad: The Foreign Office spokesperson said that there is a risk of harming regional peace and stability due to the unilateral steps taken by India, using the Pahalgam incident as a justification.
In a statement issued by the Foreign Office spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan, it was stated that India unilaterally suspended the Indus Waters Treaty. The measure of suspending water would be tantamount to war. The Indus Waters Treaty was mediated by the World Bank.
The Foreign Office spokesperson added that there is a risk of harming regional peace and stability due to India’s behavior. In response to the Indian measures, all types of movement have been stopped at the Wagah border. All visas for Indians have been suspended under the SAARC scheme, however, Sikh pilgrims are exempt from the visa suspension.
It is pertinent to note that yesterday, the National Security Committee, responding forcefully to Indian aggression and other measures, immediately stopped all land trade with India and banned Indian aircraft from using Pakistani airspace.
In addition, the National Security Committee had also declared Indian diplomatic staff in Pakistan as persona non grata and ordered them to leave the country.
