A significant number of police officials are habitual users of these substances

(Web Desk): In a decisive move to eliminate harmful health practices and protect the institution's reputation, the Sindh Police have issued a 10-day ultimatum to personnel to stop consuming gutka and mawa.
The directive comes following concerns raised by AIG Imran Qureshi in a letter to Sindh IGP, highlighting that a significant number of police officials are habitual users of these substances.
The letter stated that such habits not only endanger the health and performance of police personnel but also damage the image of the department. AIG Qureshi noted that the matter had drawn serious attention from the competent authority, prompting immediate action.
All unit heads have been directed to compile lists of personnel identified as addicted to gutka and mawa. These individuals are warned to voluntarily quit within 10 days or face disciplinary action, including possible dismissal from service.
In addition, the notification instructs officers to initiate rehabilitation efforts for affected personnel. A comprehensive report, including names, designations, and measures taken, must be submitted to the office of the DIGP Establishment, Sindh, Karachi, every two weeks for departmental review.
This crackdown is part of a broader effort to instill professionalism and improve the health and image of the Sindh Police force.
