Major oil and gas discovery in Attock

Karachi: Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) has announced a major oil and gas discovery in the Attock district of Punjab.

The PPL announcement stated that the discovery well will yield 1,469 barrels of oil and 2.56 MMCF of gas per day.

The country’s leading exploration and production company announces a significant oil and gas discovery in the Dhok Sultan-03 well, located in the Attock district of Punjab province.

The announcement said that the historic discovery in the Dhok Sultan block is not only a major milestone for PPL and its partner, Government Holdings Private Limited (GHPL), but also the second deep oil discovery in naturally fractured carbonate in the Potohar region, which demonstrates the expertise and technical superiority of the company’s personnel.

The discovery is the result of analysis and integration of geological, geophysical, and reservoir engineering data. This improved the well design and overcame drilling difficulties, while saving time and cost.

PPL, as operator in the Dhok Sultan block with a 75 percent and GHPL with a 25 percent business partnership, commenced drilling of Dhok Sultan-03 on 18 January 2025, drilling to a depth of 5815 meters.
