British-Pakistani Dr Sher Bahadur successfully treats children with thalassemia
Treated children were cured by new blood transfusions

British Pakistani Dr Sher Bahadur Anjum cured children suffering from thalassemia through gene therapy.
In an interview with a private TV, Dr Sher Bahadur Anjum said that for the first time in the UK, two children suffering from thalassemia have been successfully treated through gene therapy, after which the children have started living a normal life.
Dr Sher Bahadur Anjum led the team that treated 2 Bangladeshi children. He said that the children who were cured of thalassemia were now cured by new blood transfusions.
The National Health Service has recognized this new treatment method, under which thousands of people suffering from the disease will benefit.
It is pertinent to note that people suffering from thalassemia lack iron and oxygen, which causes them to suffer from severe anemia.
