Government increases petrol price by Rs1.71/litre
On the recommendation of the Oil & Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), Government has increased the petrol price by Rs1.71 per litre while diesel prices are not being increased.
The pice of Kerosine Oil has also been hiked by 35 paisas.
After the hike of Rs1.71/ litre, the new Petrol price will be Rs119.80 while the cost of per litre Kerosene Oil will be Rs85.75.
The new prices are to take effect from Sunday, August 1.
Announcing the change in petrol prices, Special Assistant to Prime Minister Imran Khan on Political Communication, Dr Shahbaz Gill Tweeted as Translated, “The general public and farmers are more affected by the increase in diesel prices, so the summary of the increase in diesel prices has been rejected,”

“The average price of petrol in the world is $1.19 per litre but the price of petrol in Pakistan is $0.72 per litre,” claimed Dr Shahbaz.
یاد رہے کہ جن 27 ممالک میں قیمتیں پاکستان سے کم ہے ان میں سے زیادہ تر ممالک اپنی پٹرولیم مصنوعات میں خود کفیل ہیں- اس وقت پٹرولیم پراڈکٹس پر حکومت پاکستان تقریباً صفر کے قریب ٹیکس وصول کر رہی ہے۔ کرونا کی وجہ سے پوری دنیا مہنگائی کی زد میں ہیں۔

SAPM further stated and as translated: “It may be recalled that out of the 27 countries where prices are lower than Pakistan, most of the countries are self-sufficient in their petroleum products. At present, the government of Pakistan is collecting almost zero tax on petroleum products. The whole world is suffering from inflation because of COVID.”
Earlier on July 15, dropping another POL bomb on the masses of Pakistan, the federal government has approved an Rs5.40 price hike in petrol price and Rs2.54 in High-Speed Diesel (HSD).
However, the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) had recommended an Rs11.40 increase in petrol price.
Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Political Communication Shahbaz Gill made this announcement in a tweet on Thursday.
The price of diesel has been upped by Rs2.54 per litre, diesel Rs1.93 per litre, and Light Diesel by Rs1.27, the tweet further said.
Gill said the government would bear the extra burden as Prime Minister Imran Khan approved Rs5.40 per litre petrol price against the OGRA's recommendation. He claimed that the citizens are being provided 'big relief'.
