Concerns grow as highly contagious delta virus spreads in China
China is experiencing a fresh outbreak of coronavirus as highly contagious delta variant spreads rapidly in different states.
According to details, the country has reported more than 300 cases within a span of 10 days only.
The Chinese government has implemented fresh travel restrictions and is testing millions of people to contain the spread.
All of Beijing's air, bus and travel links to areas with positive cases have been cut.
There is no clear figure on the number of people fully vaccinated in China, although authorities say more than 1.6 billion doses have been administered the jabs so far.
Local Chinese media has reported that a total of 15 provinces have now confirmed cases of coronavirus which authorities have attributed the spread to the Delta variant and the domestic tourism season.
In Zhuzhou, in central Hunan province, more than a million people have instructed to stay at homes for three days while mass testing and a vaccination drive is organized.
The country had successfully contained the virus and now the recent outbreak is really concerning.
The Sinovac and Sinopharm vaccines - two of the most commonly used vaccines in China – have proven to be 50% to 79% effective in preventing symptomatic Covid infection in clinical trials around the world, but are highly effective in preventing hospitalizations or deaths.
