PTC has urged govt to take immediate corrective measures to stabilize export competitiveness

Islamabad: Pakistan's exports have taken a significant hit, with the country's total exports declining to $7.62 billion in the July-September 2025 quarter, reflecting a 3.4 percent drop from the same period last year. The situation worsened in September 2025, with exports plunging 11 percent year-on-year.
The Pakistan Textile Council (PTC) has warned of an unfolding industrial crisis, citing a sharp decline in textile exports. In September 2025, textile exports fell 2 percent year-on-year, with significant losses in traditional and intermediate textile segments.
“These figures are deeply worrying,” said PTC Chairman Fawad Anwar. “The decline across nearly every traditional category indicates that Pakistan is losing ground not just in high-end apparel, but even in the raw and intermediate textile segments that once formed the backbone of our export chain.”
The PTC has urged the government to take immediate corrective measures to stabilize export competitiveness through consistent energy pricing, improved market access, and a revival of the textile value chain.
If immediate action is not taken, Pakistan risks irreversible damage to its export base and economic stability, warned Fawad Anwar.
