Web Desk: Earthquake tremors measuring 5.4 on the Richter scale struck Islamabad and various parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), triggering panic among residents, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) said on Monday.
The Met Office said magnitude 5.4 earthquake was recorded in the Hindu Kush Region, Afghanistan and tremors were felt across northern Pakistan as well.
“Tremors were felt across multiple areas, including Peshawar, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Swabi, Haripur, Charsadda, Mardan, and Malakand,” it said.
The tremors prompted residents and office workers to rush out of buildings into open spaces while reciting the Kalima. No immediate casualties or infrastructural damages have been reported from any affected areas.
