Veteran journalist Muhammad Ziauddin dies aged 83
Born in 1938 in Chennai, Ziauddin's family moved to Bangladesh. His family arrived in Pakistan in 1952, five years after the country was divided into East and West Pakistan.
Islamabad: Veteran journalist Muhammad Ziauddin has passed away in Islamabad after a prolonged illness. He was 83.
Muhammad Ziauddin, a senior Pakistani journalist who worked in the media for several decades.The veteran journalist studied BSc in Pharmacy at the Dhaka University and later he joined Karachi University to study journalism.
Born in 1938 in Chennai, Ziauddin's family moved to Bangladesh. His family arrived in Pakistan in 1952, five years after the country was divided into East and West Pakistan.
He was a journalist for about 60 years, and during that time he served as the editor of Dawn and The Express Tribune.
Upon learning his sad demise, several people paid respect to Ziauddin on Twitter.
Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry turned to his official twitter handle and said that the journalist was one of the most capable and fiercely independent journalists he had encountered.
