While the entire nation was celebrating its 75th Independence Day, youngsters, the so-called man, assaulted and harassed a female TikTokr at the Minar-e-Pakistan, a symbol that was erected to commemorate the adoption of the Pakistan Resolution on March 23, 1940.

The manner in which hundreds of so-called young people harassed and brutalized a female under the shadow of a woman, we do not find such example at least in our society.

This tragic incident has sparked a new debate in the country. Incidentally, on August 16, footage surfaced on social media in which a crowd gathered on the steps of Minar-e-Pakistan and a girl was shouting in the crowd. After the video came to light, the girl requested the police to register a case in which she said that she was making a video for YouTube at the Greater Iqbal Park with her colleagues on August 14 at 6.30pm when suddenly a mob of more than 400 people attacked them.

According to complaintant, the girl and her companions tried hard to get out of the crowd but failed. At the same time, after the guard opened the door of the fence, they went inside, but the crowd was so large that people climbed over the fence and came towards them and pulled. The applicant said that the people in the crowd picked up the girl and threw her in the air and also tore her clothes. The girl's identity is usually concealed in such incidents, but the day after the video came out, the victim herself appeared on a social media platform, agreed to reveal her identity and narrated the whole incident with tears in her eyes. ۔

Talking about this topic and writing this column, I feel as if we as a whole have embarked on a journey to push this society into decline. Have we as a nation become mentally ill? Is the frustration in the society so high that we forget our values in both happiness and sorrow?

Allah Almighty has made man the noblest of creatures, but do we want to prove ourselves as animals? Society is rapidly moving towards a moral degradation that has licked the nations of the nations and those who have survived have become socially disabled. Those who think that the fire will not reach their homes or that it is a rare occurrence in the society, all they have to say is wait and see that the fire does not belong to anyone. When society begins to disintegrate in the name of entertainment, an example of which we saw in the above incident, then the whole society collapses. There is nothing left.

Earlier, it was reported that the mob had smashed a CCTV camera and set fire to a cabin and a motorcycle. The question is, is this the standard of our entertainment? Try putting a beautiful bench or a showpiece in a park or leave it. Put a beautiful garbage can in a park. Firstly, you will not find garbage in it. Secondly, in a few days Will be distorted. On the other hand, even if the incident took place in France, Italy or a distant country, instead of recording our protest in a polite manner, we start sabotaging here. They will rob a wheelbarrow. They will break the windows of a poor man's shop or burn government property.

I think in this whole situation, there was a disappointing attitude from the government. The situation is that even the ministers blindly make irresponsible statements without analyzing the issues and circumstances. Didn't other statements about women's clothing play a role in creating an atmosphere of insecurity for women? On the other hand, there is a "Commission for the Dignity of Women" in every province for the protection of women in Pakistan, but due to the lack of an effective network of helpline offices, it has not played an effective role in providing protection to women. Can do And the telephone numbers of the helpline set up for women's rights and issues in Punjab are also closed. ۔

Pakistan is ranked 153rd out of 156 countries in the World Economic Forum's 2021 Index of Gender Differences. Speaking of South Asia, Pakistan ranks 7th out of 8 countries. Only Afghanistan is behind us in the region, which has been plagued by four decades of war and destruction.

The August 14 incident is not the only one of its kind, but there have been other videos of women being molested, harassed and humiliated. Although cases are being registered against the accused on the basis of these videos, the question here is whether we can stop the growing misconduct in the society only by setting up cases. Is it possible to imagine such a fall in a civilized society? As Muslims, can we put our hands on our hearts and say that we are living in an Islamic society?

According to experts, the accused involved in the incident could face the death penalty and life imprisonment if convicted under Pakistani penalties. Will prove? This is an important question. The way this incident has started a new debate is also raising questions from some quarters as to whether there is any fault of the woman Tuck Tucker in this whole matter. This is also being said by some people. Why did this woman need to go to public places to make a video like this in such a rush? But should all these explanations be accepted correctly?

In my opinion, the main reason for the increase in such incidents in our society is the lack of religious and moral training in homes and educational institutions. In our country, social media has become a camel. Unchecked use of the internet and increasing distances between families also lead to such incidents.

The government has a responsibility to take these issues seriously and take steps for the mental training and therapy of children in schools, colleges, universities and religious schools. All educational institutions and universities should also be required to pay special attention to the moral training of students studying in their institutions.
