The authorities have increased the prices of the petroleum products as Pakistan-IMF deal for revival of stalled programme comes near


Islamabad: The federal government jacked up petrol prices for the next fifteen days on Wednesday night.
The development took place at the moment when Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that the deal with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) would be done within next few days. The increase in prices of the petroleum products is one of the main conditions of the Fund.
According to the notification issued by the Ministry of Finance, Petrol per litre price was increased by Rs5, High Speed Diesel was increased by Rs13, Kerosene per litre was jacked up by Rs2.56 and no increase was made in the price of the Light Diesel.
The new price of per litre petrol would be now Rs272, High Speed Diesel Rs293, Kerosene would be at 190.29 per litre while Light Diesel would be available at Rs184.68.

The increase in the petroleum prices would cause more burden on the general masses already suffering from sky-rocketing inflation. The transporters would increase the fares soon after this decision, and would impact the general masses. Subsequenty, the prices of the edibles and goods of daily use would go up in the local markets.
