TikTok expands 'effect creator rewards' to empower users to earn
TikTok's 'Effect Creator Rewards' program is opening new doors for users to monetize their creativity and contributions to the platform.
California: TikTok is ushering in new changes that offer users an easier path to earning income from the popular social media platform.
In a bid to support creators of viral filters and effects, TikTok is revamping its 'Effect Creator Rewards' program.
This endeavor aligns with TikTok's commitment to enable users to generate income without the need to post videos, a development first announced in May 2023.
The 'Effect Creator Rewards' fund was introduced by TikTok to facilitate users in earning money through the creation of viral filters and augmented reality (AR) effects.
Initially, the company earmarked $6 million for this program, which was launched for users in the United States, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and the UK.
TikTok is now expanding the program's reach by welcoming users from additional countries, including Australia, Brazil, Canada, Japan, Indonesia, Finland, Ireland, Korea, Malaysia, Netherlands, Philippines, Poland, United Arab Emirates, and Vietnam.
This expansion offers a wider audience the opportunity to earn income through viral filters and effects.
The eligibility requirements for the program have also evolved. Initially, TikTok stipulated that creators would receive $700 for every effect and filter used in 500,000 videos within a three-month period.
Now, TikTok has introduced a more accessible approach.
To participate in the program, users must post a minimum of five filters, with three of them being used in 1,000 videos.
This means that filters don't have to be exceptionally popular to qualify for earnings.
Moreover, creators will have the opportunity to earn money for each effect used in 200,000 videos within three months.
The requirement of an additional one lakh videos for increased earnings has been removed.
While users can earn money for using the effect in each additional video after surpassing the 200,000-video threshold, the company has not provided further details on this aspect.
