Petition against Dar’s appointment as Deputy PM dismissed

Lahore: The Lahore High Court (LHC) Thursday dismissed the petition filed against the appointment of Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar as Deputy Prime Minister.

While pronouncing the reserved judgment yesterday, Justice Shahid Bilal Hassan of LHC dismissed the application as inadmissible.

The petitioner believed that Senator Ishaq Dar is appointed as Foreign Minister, who has also been appointed Deputy Prime Minister for further honors. The position of Deputy Prime Minister does not exist in the constitution, so the court should declare the appointment of Ishaq Dar null and void.

The lawyer of the federal government told the court that Ishaq Dar was not appointed but nominated as Deputy Prime Minister.

The court inquired whether the deputy prime minister is getting any salary. The lawyer of the federal government said that Ishaq Dar is only getting the salary of the foreign minister. According to the law, the prime minister can nominates a person for a post.

Justice Shahid Bilal remarked that no institution of Pakistan is right, the reason is that we have deviated from the religion, from the decree of Allah. We have 75 percent cases that women are asking for their share in the property.

After hearing all the arguments, the court reserved its decision on the petition against the appointment of Ishaq Dar as Deputy Prime Minister, on which the petition was dismissed in today's hearing.

It is pertinent to note that on April 28, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif appointed Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar as the Deputy Prime Minister of Pakistan.
