Imam Bargah’s security on high alert on Muharram 8
The police have also decided to monitor the procession aerially through drone cameras including 200 CCTV cameras
Lahore: The security of Imam Bargahs was put on high alert on Muharram 8 in Lahore.
The Superintendent of Police (SP) Allama Iqbal Town police station Salman Liaquat visited Imam Bargahs of Thokar Niaz Baig, reviewed the important points, and said that officials have also been posted on the roofs around the Imam Bargahs, fool-proof security is being provided to all meetings and processions of Muharram.
On the other hand, the procession of Muharram 8 in Karachi will leave from Nishtar Park at 1:30pm. The areas around the route of the procession have been closed with containers. While police and Rangers personnel will be deployed on the route of the procession. The procession will be monitored with the help of CCTV in the command and control room.
While, during Muharram in Peshawar, 19 of the total 62 Imam Bargahs were declared as the most sensitive. To ensure security during Muharram, Peshawar police decided to deploy more than 14,000 policemen across the city.
The police have also decided to monitor the procession aerially through drone cameras including 200 CCTV cameras.
Apart from the police, Pakistan Army and FC troops will also be deployed for the security of the processions.
