SHC approves 20-day protective bail of Dr Alvi in three cases
Petitioner’s lawyer pleads despite peaceful protests, cases were registered in different cities
Karachi: The Sindh High Court (SHC) granted a 20-day protective bail to former President Dr Arif Alvi in three cases on Wednesday.
The court ordered the PTI leader to submit a bond of Rs50,000 and referred the matter to a constitutional bench for further hearing of the case.
The petitioner’s lawyer took the stand that despite peaceful protests, cases were registered in different cities.
Cases were registered against Alvi in Mianwali, Taxila and Rawalpindi and the purpose of the cases was to exert political pressure, he said.
The counsel sought a 20-day protective bail for his client, non-arrest by the Sindh police and non-inclusion of Alvi’s name in unknown FIRs.
