Magnitude 4.6 quakes strikes Mediterranean Sea off Cyprus
So far, there were no immediate reports of casualties.
A magnitude 4.6 earthquake has jolted the Mediterranean Sea off the east coast of Cyprus Island early Friday, Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) reported.
According to details, the earthquake occurred at 04.40 a.m. local time (0140 GMT) about 4.54 kilometers (2.8 miles) off Gazimagusa province in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, according to Turkey’s disaster management agency.
The tremor occurred at a depth of 32.99 kilometers (20.4 miles) below the surface.
The quake was particularly felt on Cyprus island and in Turkey’s Antalya, Mersin, Hatay and Adana provinces.
So far, there were no immediate reports of casualties.
