Pakistanis want peaceful, cooperative relations with India, PM replies Modi
Islamabad: Prime Minister Imran Khan Tuesday replied to the Indian PM Narendra Modi's letter, conveying his best wishes for the people of India.
Further PM Khan telling Modi wrote that Pakistan is convinced of durable peace but it is only possible by resolving the Kashmir dispute.
"Thank you for your letter conveying greetings on Pakistan Day. The people of Pakistan commemorate this Day by paying tribute to the wisdom and foresight of our founding fathers in envisioning an independent, sovereign state where they could live in freedom and realize their full potential," wrote PM Imran Khan in the letter.
The premier told Modi that Pakistan wanted peaceful relations with all neighbours, including India, adding "we are convinced that durable peace and stability in South Asia is contingent upon resolving all outstanding issues between India and Pakistan, in particular, the Jammu & Kashmir dispute".
He said to the creation of an "enabling environment" between Pak-Indo was essential if they were to have a result-oriented and constructive dialogue.
"I also take this opportunity to convey our best wishes for the people of India in the fight against the COV1D-19 pandemic. Please accept, Excellency, the assurances of my highest consideration," he wrote.
It may be recalled that on March 23, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi had written a letter to Prime Minister Imran Khan congratulating him on Pakistan Day, wishing good relations with the Pakistani people and good luck in working against the Corona epidemic.
The Indian premier concluded by saying: "Please accept, Excellency, the assurances of my highest consideration."
