Soldier martyred, terrorist killed during gun fire in Zhob: ISPR
During the exchange of fire, two soldiers sustained the injuries, the ISPR further added.
Quetta: A soldier was martyred and a terrorist was killed during firing between security forces and militants in an intelligence-based operation in Sambaza— an area of Zhob, district of Balochistan— military’s media affairs wing reported Sunday.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) issued a statement on Sunday morning stating that the operation was launched because of a credible information and was to be continued for 96 hours.
The ISPR added: “The objective of the operation was to prevent the terrorists from the use of few suspected routes to move across the Pakistan-Afghanistan border to enter in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) along the interprovincial premises and security forces and target citizens”.
The constant surveillance and sanitation of the area helped to intercept a group of terrorists on early Sunday, the ISPR stated, adding that “during the establishment of blocking positions to deny the terrorists escape routes, the militants opened fire on the security forces”.
During the exchange of fire, a terrorist got killed while a soldier, Sepoy Haq Nawaz was martyred. Meanwhile, two soldiers sustained the injuries in the gunfight, the ISPR further added.
The statement also read that the terrorist were backed by their facilitators from across the border also through firing, the sanitization operation continued in the area to apprehend the remaining culprits.
Due to the increasing terrorism incidents, the Chief Minister of Balochistan Abdul Qudoos Bizenjo reviewed the law and order situation in the province while presided over a meeting on Saturday.
The meeting decided to take strong measure to control terrorism, and security agencies were ordered to vigilantly monitor the activities of banned organizations.
