Islamabad: The court of district and sessions judge on Friday, while announcing the reserved verdict, approved the 14-day judicial remand of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Fawad Chaudhry on a sedition charge.

As per details, an Islamabad district and sessions court sent PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry to Adiala jail for 14 days on judicial remand.

Chaudhry was produced before the court of judicial magistrate amid strict security. Heavy contingents of Frontier Corps (FC) personnel and police were present outside the court premises.

The case was being heard in the courtroom of Judge Raja Waqas Ahmed who announced its reserved verdict on extending the Physical remand of the former federal minister in a case over alleged incitement of violence against a constitutional institution.

On January 25, an Islamabad court granted police two-day physical remand of former federal minister, hours after he was arrested from Lahore.

The police requested an extension in Fawad’s remand, saying it was imperative to carry out further investigation in the case.

Fawad Chaudhry, who served as information minister from 2018 to 2022, was taken into custody after a first information report (FIR) against him was registered at Islamabad’s Kohsar police station.

Chaudhry was arrested at his home hours after he publicly criticised the coalation government for plotting to detain PTI chairman Imran Khan.

Fawad and other party leaders have been criticising the Election Commission for appointing a media tycoon, Mohsin Naqvi, as caretaker chief minister of Punjab.
