Death anniversary of prolific writer Bano Qudsia being observed
Bano Qudsia wrote for both television and stage in Urdu.


Lahore: Sixth death anniversary of legendary writer, novelist and dramatist, Bano Qudsia is being observed on Saturday (February 4).
Born on November 28, 1928, Bano was completed her master’s degree from Punjab University in 1950 and got married to well-known writer and playwright Ashfaq Ahmed.
Her father was a landlord with a bachelor’s degree in agriculture who died when Bano was very young. Her mother was a senior educationist and inspired Bano Qudsia to develop a keen interest in academics.
After graduating from the Kinnaird College, the eminent playwright studied Urdu literature at the Government College University (GCU) in Lahore.
Bano Qudsia wrote for both television and stage in Urdu.
Her famous plays include Tamasil, Hawa Kay Naam, Khaleej and Aadhi Baat. In the realm of television plays, she is considered a trendsetter and revolutionary.
Her novel "Raja Gidh" is world known which took her to the heights of popularity.
She was decorated with Sitara-I-Imtiaz (Star of Excellence) in 1983 for her important contributions to the Pakistani literature community.
She won several awards for her dramas besides "Kamal-i Fun" distinction.
The legend died at the age of 88 in Lahore on 4 February 2017.
