Police arrests JUI-F's Mufti Kifayatullah from Mansehra
Mansehra: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) leader Mufti Kifayatullah has been taken into custody by Mansehra police from his house in Tarangri Sabir over making controversial remarks against the Pakistan Army.
According to details, a heavy contingent of police was deployed outside his house that raided his residence and detained Mufti Kifayatullah under Section 3 of MPO (power to arrest and detain suspected persons of the Maintenance of Public Order) and the federal cabinet had decided to arrest him over anti-state statements.
The Maintenance of Public Order (MPO) allows the government to detain any person involved in suspicious activities for six months.
Mufti Kifayatullah has been arrested for similar charges in the past.
Back in November 2019, the law enforcement agencies and Mansehra Police conducted a joint operation in Islamabad’s Sector E-11/3, and arrested JUI-F’s Mufti Kifayatullah for allegedly issuing derogatory remarks against the state institutions.
He was arrested and confined at Central Jail, Haripur before the JUI-F’s Azadi March in October 2019.
As per police, the leader made several appearances on TV shows and criticized retired army officers for commenting on the country’s politics. However, he was released from the Haripur jail on November 01, 2019 after the high court approved his bail in the case.
