Punjab govt's tactics aimed at failing PTI’s rally: Qureshi
The PTI vice chairman says that the arrests of the party’s workers and leaders is evidence of the PDM’s worries.
Lahore: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Vice Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi on Saturday criticized the Punjab interim government for ‘using tactics’ in a bid to foil the gathering at Minar-e-Pakistan.
“The provincial government has placed containers on the roads leading to Minar-e-Pakistan,” said Shah Mahmood Qureshi while talking to the media on Saturday afternoon.
The PTI leader claimed that the gathering would be historic but said that the conduct of the provincial government was biased and discriminatory.
Qureshi said the raids on the party workers showed PDM’s worries, adding that 1500 to 1800 workers were arrested. He stated that Dr Robina was arrested when she was checking her patients in the clinic.
He went on to say that the PTI workers were being arrested despite that the Lahore High Court allowed them to hold gathering at Minar-e-Pakistan.
The PTI’s vice-chairman also said that the district administrations threatened the transporters with severe consequences if they provided transport to carry workers to attend the Lahore rally.
“Today is the test of Lahore and we know Lahore will never disappoint,” said Qureshi, urging the people to join Minar-e-Pakistan despite the obstacles.
He also advised the party workers not to fight, pointing out that the passion was a great weapon that could crush everyone.
