Punjab govt decides evacuation of settlements along riverbeds

Lahore: Punjab government, in view of the threat of floods, has made the decision to evacuate settlements along riverbeds.

Chief Minister of Punjab, Mohsin Naveed, shared a statement on the social media platform Twitter, stating that consultations with relevant authorities have been completed to prepare for flood management.

The decision has been taken to evacuate illegal settlements in riverbeds and water channels.

Mohsin Naveed mentioned that the Health and Rescue departments are fully prepared to tackle any kind of disaster, and the Punjab Disaster Management Authority is working in collaboration with the concerned authorities.

It should be noted that the National Emergency Operations Center of the National Disaster Management Authority has indicated the possibility of a moderate flood at the Ganda Singh Wala location in the River Sutlej, according to various meteorological models.

This could have potential impacts on the surrounding low-lying areas.
