Swat: A delegation of Sri Lankan Buddhist Monks visited the rock carved Buddha at Jehanabad in the Swat Valley and offered their rituals.

The 16-member delegation from Sri Lanka including 11 monks and five government officials paid a visit to Butkara Stupa which has been built by the Mauryan emperor Ashoka.

The Buddha sculpture is about 7 meters in height and is seated on a high throne in the attitude of mediation. The image of the Buddha carved on the rock at Jehanabad on 7th AD.

Meanwhile, the Sri Lankan monks also visited Swat Museum which showcases over 3,000 antique objects of Gandhara sculptures and the excavated Buddha’s life story.

The monks expressed pleasure over visiting Buddhist sacred places in Pakistan.
