Lahore: The weather turned pleasant after light to moderate rain hit different parts of the city on Sunday morning.

Several areas of Lahore, including Mall Road, Garhi Shahu, Multan Road and Johar Town. The weather of provincial metropolitan also turned pleasant as humidity and temperature decreased significantly after light drizzle.

The Meteorological Department has issued a warning, stating that the rain is likely to continue intermittently for the next twenty-four hours.

The general public has been asked to take the required safety precautions and stay home during severe weather.

A day earlier, Pakistan Meteorology Department (PDM) forecasted that a fresh weather system will enter Punjab this evening under which rainfall is expected in Lahore and other districts of Punjab with thunderstorm.

The rain water inundated several low-lying areas in Gujranwala, Kasur and Okara. According to the reports, rain lashed Gujranwala early in the morning creating havoc in some low-lying areas.

Several low-lying regions in Gujranwala, Kasur, and Okara were submerged by the rainwater. The reports state that early in the morning, rain pelted Gujranwala, wrecking havoc in several low-lying districts.

Earlier, Federal Minister for Climate Change and Senator Sherry Rehman on Thursday said that new spell of monsoon was starting from July 13.

The Minister warned that there was a chance of rain and thunder in several parts of Islamabad, Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Kashmir in her tweet on the social media platform Twitter.

The monsoon spell will last until July 17. She said that all relevant institutions had received instructions to be on high alert.

"There is a risk of flooding of low-lying areas due to excessive rainfall in Islamabad, Lahore, Gujranwala, Peshawar, and Rawalpindi from July 13 to 17," she continued.

According to the federal minister, landslides might occur in the mountainous regions of Murree, Guliyat, Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
