LHC orders Rs5000 fine for helmet violators
The court said: “The fine of Rs500 should be imposed after which the violators will automatically follow the law”.
Lahore: Lahore High Court (LHC) ordered a fine of Rs5000 to those not wearing helmets while riding the bikes.
According to details, Justice Shahid Karim of LHC directed the traffic police to design rules for citizens to wear helmets while riding the bike, issuing the order on it.
Justice Shahid heard the petitions filed against smog. The court has expressed its displeasure over the traffic wardens blocking the traffic on the roads of Lahore for issuing challan to the violators.
The court said: “The fine of Rs500 should be imposed after which the violators will automatically follow the law”.
It has been directed to advertise the safety measures of helmets for the first 10 days to create awareness among citizens.
Court expressed strong displeasure over the standing rain water in the CBD underpass at Kalma Chowk. The court remarked that underpass could not withstand even the first rain, the chief engineer Lahore Development Authority (LDA) should have resigned himself.
It also has summoned the report on the damage to the surrounding houses due to rain water.
