SC summons PTI chairman in lawyer’s murder case
The former prime minister has been ordered by the supreme court to appear before it in the case on July 24 at 10am.
Islamabad: The Supreme Court summoned the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman in a case regarding the assassination of a lawyer Abdul Razzaq Shar who had accused him of high treason on Thursday.
The former prime minister has been ordered by the supreme court to appear before it in the case on July 24 at 10am.
The top court rejected a request for a stay order against the PTI chairman in the murder case earlier this month.
The application against the non-bailable warrants issued for the suspect was also rejected by a two-judge panel consisting of Justice Ijazul Ahsan and Justice Ayesha Malik.
The PTI chief was previously charged with the murder of Supreme Court attorney Abdur Razzaq Shar, who was shot and killed on Airport Road in the province capital.
According to the victim's son's complaint, a case was filed under the murder and terrorism sections after the perpetrators allegedly shot the victim with a Kalashnikov. The victim had 16 gunshots lodged in various body areas.
