All exams including O/A levels postponed
Islamabad: Federal Education Minister Shafqat Mehmood has announced that all examinations including O-Levels and A-Levels have been postponed.
While addressing a presser alongside Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Health Dr Faisal Sultan, the education minister said that in view of rising coronavirus cases in the country, the government has decided to postpone all exams until June 15.
"Exams of grade 9, 10, 11 and 12 which were supposed to begin in May end have been delayed further. No board exams will be held till mid-June,” he said.
Shafqat Mehmood said that a meeting of National Command and Operations Center (NCOC) will be convened in the third week of May to decide the future of exams.
Referring to the Cambridge exams, the education minister said that O level exams will now be held in October and November and the same will be the case for A-level exams.
Students and their parents were calling to cancel Cambridge examinations which began on Monday in view of alarming coronavirus situation in the country.
Pakistan is presently experiencing the third wave of coronavirus which is said to be deadlier and more contagious than previous two waves.
According to National Command and Operations Center (NCOC), around 4,487 cases of coronavirus were reported while 142 people succumbed to the disease in the last 24 hours, taking the total death toll to 17,329.
The total number of confirmed cases reached to 804,939. As many as 699,816 patients have recovered from the disease with 5,075 critical cases.
