The Interior Minister says such rumors were baseless and denied any government involvement in suggesting or rejecting Dar’s name for the position.
Islamabad: PML-N Punjab Chapter President and Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah refuted claims that Finance Minister Ishaq Dar was ever proposed as a candidate for caretaker prime minister.
Rana Sanaullah clarified that such rumors were baseless and denied any government involvement in suggesting or rejecting Dar's name for the position.
The reaction came at the moment when the discussions were ongoing about whether a bureaucrat or a politician would be better suited for the important role.
“If a consensus could be reached, the caretaker prime minister could be either Ishaq Dar or any other politician from any party,” said the PML-N leader, emphasizing the government's commitment to appointing a caretaker PM who would be acceptable to all parties involved.
He was talking on a local private TV on Friday.
Rana Sanaullah said that the current government lacked the authority to permit Nawaz's comeback and attributed this decision to the Supreme Court, which had disqualified Nawaz through an order. He accused the judges of bias against the PML-N leader.
Furthermore, the minister expressed his belief that Nawaz Sharif, like PML-N Senior Vice President Maryam Nawaz, would also attain acquittal through the courts. He predicted that Nawaz would return soon, secure interim bails, and eventually achieve acquittals, effectively putting an end to the political restrictions imposed on him through conspiracies.
