London: Warner Bros.' blockbuster "Barbie" maintains its commanding position at the North American box office, securing the top spot for the fourth consecutive week.
The film, directed by Greta Gerwig, continues to rewrite industry records.
Greta Gerwig, already celebrated for propelling "Barbie" to become the first solo woman-directed film to exceed $1 billion in global box office earnings, has now achieved the distinction of being the highest-grossing woman director in the domestic market.
Exhibitor Relations, a noted industry analyst, has projected this weekend's earnings for "Barbie" at an impressive $33.7 million, further solidifying its domestic total at an impressive $526 million.
The directorial prowess of Gerwig is currently competing against Jennifer Lee, co-director of Disney's animated sequel "Frozen," in a tight race to be recognized as the highest-grossing woman director of all time in the global box office arena.
Featuring Margot Robbie in the iconic role and with Ryan Gosling portraying Ken, "Barbie" has already amassed a staggering $1.2 billion in worldwide box office revenue.
