Police recovers, hands over lost jewelry worth Rs4M at airport
The police continued to tell that bag had all the goods which were handed over to the woman.
Karachi: Karachi police recovered the missing gold jewelry worth Rs4 million and handed it over to the female passenger who had left it at the airport.
According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Malir Hasan Sardar Niazi, a female passenger, Saira Mustafa Sheikh, had arrived in Karachi on a flight from Islamabad on August 07.
He said that when the woman reached home and checked her luggage, one of her bags was missing from the luggage which she had forgotten to pick up from the trolley in the airport parking area.
The woman lodged a report at the airport police station saying that: “The bag contained jewelry worth Rs4 million, Rs40,000 cash, various bank cards and documents”.
According to the police, Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and airline staff were also questioned in this regard, but no one knew about the missing bag.
Station House Officer (SHO) Airport Inspector Kaleem Musa said that after examining the CCTV footage of airport parking area, another vehicle was also found parked alongside the vehicle of female passenger who filed the complaint.
He told that during further investigation, the driver of this vehicle was also seen carrying the said bag.
According to the police, when the record of the said vehicle was extracted from the excise department, it was owned by a company, on which police contacted the company.
Police officials added that the company's security personnel handed over the required bag to the police, which was declared abandoned by their driver and deposited in the company's security department.
The police continued to tell that bag had all the goods which were handed over to the woman.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Malir Hasan Sardar Niazi has announced awards for SHO Airport Kaleem Musa and his team for doing great job.
