Imran Khan’s sentence in Toshakhana case commuted by six months
President Dr. Arif Alvi had shortened convicts' sentences on August 14 by six months.
Islamabad: Former prime minister and PTI Chairman Imran Khan, who had been sentenced to three years behind bars in the Toshakhana reference on August 5, 2023, has his prison term commuted by six months on Thursday.
Imran's lawyer, Latif Khosa, informed Chief Justice (CJ) Justice Aamer Farooq during the hearing of his appeal against conviction that President Dr. Arif Alvi had shortened convicts' sentences on August 14 by six months. Therefore, he added, "the PTI chief's sentence has also been reduced by six months."
Furthermore, Advocate Khosa, on the occasion, prayed to the court to suspend the sentence handed down to his client in the reference.
