PML-N to announce tickets next month
The tickets will be announced by a parliamentary board after final approval from party’s supremo Nawaz Sharif.
London: The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) is preparing to announce the allocation of party tickets for the upcoming national and provincial assembly elections next month through a parliamentary board, the sources privy to the development said on Friday.
The sources said that the parliamentary board, set to be established in October, would be headed by former Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. Ultimately, the approval for the allocation of party tickets to candidates would be granted by Nawaz Sharif, the party's supreme leader.
An official announcement regarding the formation of the parliamentary board is expected to be made in the coming days.
The composition of the parliamentary board is expected to include prominent PML-N figures such as Maryam Nawaz, Hamza Shehbaz, Pervaiz Rasheed, Ishaq Dar, Ameer Muqam, Rana Sanaullah, Khawaja Asif, Khawaja Saad Rafique, and Sardar Ayaz Sadiq.
The reports suggested that the PML-N opted to rely on familiar political figures and would introduce new, strong candidates only in constituencies where tough competition is anticipated.
