The number of conjunctivitis patients has tripled in a few days.


Hyderabad: Conjunctivitis epidemic is spreading rapidly in various cities including Hyderabad in Sindh due to which hundreds of patients are reaching the hospital every day.
After taking hold of Karachi, conjunctivitis has moved to Hyderabad and other cities and villages of interior Sindh. The number of conjunctivitis patients has tripled in a few days.
Ophthalmologists of Sindh Institute of Ophthalmology-Visual Sciences said that conjunctivitis is spreading rapidly which has reached other areas of Sindh after Karachi.
According to doctors, bacterial germs have been found in patients with conjunctivitis, while the disease has also been found in many patients suffering from other diseases.
The expert doctors added that precautionary measures to avoid eye infections include washing hands, wearing dark glasses and separating pillows and towels.

Conjunctivitis is a common condition that causes redness and inflammation of the thin layer of tissue that covers the front of the eye (the conjunctiva). People often refer to conjunctivitis as red eye.
