Over 5,000 Malaria cases reported in Sindh within 24hrs
This year, the number of malaria cases has reached 352,238.
Karachi: Malaria has taken a concerning turn in the province of Sindh, with over 5,000 new cases reported within a 24-hour period, including Karachi.
The rapid spread of malaria has led to 5,185 new patients being diagnosed in a single day, pushing the total number of malaria cases in the province this year to 352,238.
In the past day, 2,243 cases were reported in the Hyderabad division, 1,490 in Larkana, 949 in Mirpur Khas, 283 in Sukkur, 195 in Shaheed Benazirabad, and 25 in Karachi.
Among the Karachi districts, Malir reported 12 cases, Korangi had 9 cases, and Central, Eastern, Southern, and Western districts each reported a single case.
This year, Sindh has witnessed a staggering rise in malaria cases, with the total exceeding 352,000 cases. Tragically, two lives have been lost to malaria in 2023.
