Research revealed coronavirus vaccines saved 11,700 lives in England
A recent research has revealed that coronavirus vaccines have saved 11,700 lives in England.
According to details, the findings also revealed that the Covid-19 jabs also prevented 33,000 people from falling seriously ill with Covid-19 in England.
The Public Health England analysis revealed that till the end of April, most of the people who died or fell seriously ill due to Covid-19 were aged 70 and above.
Health Secretary Matt Hancock said the figures were "remarkable" adding that getting a vaccine is "one of the most important things you will be asked to do in your lifetime”.
The country is setting up extra vaccine centers to administer vaccines to those who are 38 and above and have underlying medical condition.
The step has been taken to limit the spread of virus, which is causing concern because scientists believe it could be at least as transmissible as the Kent variant.
So far, nine out of ten people who are 40 and above have received their first dose of vaccine in England.
It is estimated that due to the vaccines 9,900 deaths were prevented in people aged 80 and over 1,500 deaths in those age 70-79. Moreover, 16,000 hospital admissions were prevented in people aged 85 and over 13,100 admissions in those aged 75-84
