The epicenter of the 5.7 magnitude earthquake in Nepal was located 250 miles northeast of Kathmandu.
Kathmandu: Earthquake of magnitude 5.7 has jolted the Jajarkot region of western Nepal as a result of which 128 people were killed, hundreds sustained the injuries and and many buildings were piled up.
According to foreign media, officials stated that relief activities have been started in the earthquake-affected areas, many buildings and infrastructures have also been severely damaged, and efforts are underway to evacuate people trapped in the debris.
Officials have expressed the fear of many people being trapped under the debris and have also shown the possibility of an increase in casualties.
According to Indian media, the tremors of the Nepal earthquake were also felt in other parts of India including Delhi.
The epicenter of the 5.7 magnitude earthquake in Nepal was located 250 miles northeast of Kathmandu, with a depth of 11 miles, according to the British News Agency.
According to the news agency, the magnitude of the earthquake was initially reported by the Nepal Seismological Center as 6.4, but the German Research Center for Geosciences reported the magnitude as 5.7, while according to the US Seismological Center, the magnitude of the earthquake was recorded as 5.6.
It is pertinent to note that earlier in 2015 in Nepal, 9000 people were killed in an earthquake of magnitude 7.8.
