Written verdict of Shehbaz Sharif's acquittal in Ashiana reference issued
According to the written judgment, the allegations made in the reference are highly doubtful.
Lahore: The Accountability Court Lahore Friday issued a written decision of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) president Shehbaz Sharif and others acquittal in the Ashiana Iqbal reference.
According to the details, Judge Malik Ali Zulqarnain of the Accountability Court has issued a written decision comprising 59 pages.
According to the written judgment, the allegations made in the reference are highly doubtful. The pleas of acquittal of Shehbaz Sharif and others have been approved.
According to the court decision, earlier on July 2022, Ahad Cheema applied for a reinvestigation to the chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB). After the new chairman was appointed, according to the supplementary report, this reference is not for a trial against any accused.
The court verdict said that according to the supplementary report, the government exchequer was not damaged in this project and the charges against any accused were not proved.
It is pertinent to note that a reference was filed against the accused in 2018, however on November 18, 2023, 10 accused including Shehbaz Sharif were acquitted.
