NADRA blocks CNICs of PTI leaders absconding in May 9 cases
Murad Saeed, Azam Swat, Hammad Azhar, Aslam Iqbal, Karam Khokhar, Ali Amin Gandapur, Wasiq Qayyum Abbasi, Musarrat Cheema, Jamshed Cheema, Zubair Niazi, Malik Nadeem Abbas, and Ghulam Muhiuddin are among those whose CNICs have been blocked.
Lahore: National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) took action by blocking the Computerized National Identity Cards (CNICs) of PTI leaders who are absconding in cases related to the May 9 riots.
Acting on the recommendation of the Punjab police, the Interior Ministry instructed NADRA to block the CNICs of PTI leaders declared absconders in the aftermath of the May 9 incidents.
Among the leaders whose CNICs have been blocked are Murad Saeed, Azam Swat, Hammad Azhar, Aslam Iqbal, Karam Khokhar, Ali Amin Gandapur, Wasiq Qayyum Abbasi, Musarrat Cheema, Jamshed Cheema, Zubair Niazi, Malik Nadeem Abbas, and Ghulam Muhiuddin. Police have stated that the CNICs will remain blocked until the PTI absconders appear before the Anti-Terrorism Courts (ATC) for the May 9 cases.
The PTI leaders are under investigation for their alleged involvement in the May 9 incidents, which erupted nationwide following the arrest of the PTI chairman in the Al-Qadir Trust case. The PTI, its leaders and workers were accused of damaging the Army installations and Corps Commander’s house in Lahore.
