Bollywood actor, Ajay Devgn is currently shooting for his upcoming movie, Maidaan for which the film crew has developed a temporary football stadium to shoot football matches. However, the cyclone Taukatae didn’t spare the set of Maidaan last night.

The director of Maidaan, Booney Kapoor has revealed that four football matches are yet to be shot and the stadium will be reconstructed once the COVID restrictions are softening.

A source says, "There were about 40 people on the set when the cyclone hit the 'Maidaan' set- the guards and the curators of the football ground which largely comprises the set. They tried their best to save as much as they could but their efforts proved almost futile."

'Maidaan' is based on the life of the football player, the late Syed Abdul Rahim. Priyamani plays the female lead in the film.

This is the second time that 'Maidaan' has suffered a big blow. A 16-acre, high-maintenance set built for the film in question in the same place was dismantled in May 2020 owing to the COVID-19 lockdown and the upcoming rains. Thankfully, several indoor and certain outdoor scenes had already been filmed in Kolkata and Lucknow.

It is to be noted that more than 90 people were killed by Tropical Cyclone in different coastal areas of India. The worst damage was reported in the Indian state of West Bengal, home to the metropolis Kolkata and many small, coastal villages.
