Objection to Imran Riaz Khan's appeal removed

Lahore: The Lahore High Court (LHC) Friday overruled the objection to the appeal to remove the name of journalist Imran Riaz Khan from Provisional National Identification List (PNIL).

Justice Ali Baqir Najafi heard the petition of journalist Imran Riaz in which the federal government and others have been made parties.

It was requested by the lawyer that the petitioner has to go for Umrah, and the order should be issued after the hearing today.

Imran Riaz's lawyer said in the court that the relevant department says that Imran Riaz's name is in the PNIL which was not provided, otherwise they would have attached it to the application.

According to the lawyer, the letter was written and e-mails were also sent, however the list was not provided.

The court asked Imran Riaz if he tried to go out and he was prohibited. On this, the journalist told that he went earlier but was stopped at the airport.

The court in its remarks said that the matter should be looked at on the judicial side and it directed the Registrar's Office to put a number on the application.
