Sindh govt announces Ramadan package worth Rs22.5 billion
Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah approved giving Rs5000 in cash to 60 percent population of the province.
Karachi: Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has announced a Ramadan package worth Rs22.5 billion for the people.
A meeting was held in Karachi under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah in which the Mayor Karachi, Chief Secretary, Principal Secretary, Inspector General (IG) Police, Secretary Finance, Additional IG Police, Commissioner Karachi and others concerned officers were present.
Commissioners and Deputy Inspector Generals (DIGs) of other divisions also participated in the meeting through video link.
Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, while announcing the Ramadan package of Rs22.5 billion, also approved giving Rs5000 in cash to 60 percent population of the province.
The Chief Minister of Sindh has decided to give relief to 4.5 million families with minimum wage in Ramadan.
It was informed in the meeting that the minimum monthly salary in the province is 34000 rupees while the families earning Rs32000 per month are 60% of the population.
Sindh Chief Minister announced that every family will be given Rs5000 through the bank in the month of Ramadan, thus giving 5000 rupees to 3.5 million families, a total of Rs22.5 billion will be paid.
He also informed that Sindh Zakat Department will pay 14,000 rupees to 1,10,000 poor families.
Murad Ali Shah has instructed the commissioner to start crackdown against hoarders and profiteers in Karachi from today, commissioners in other divisions of the province should also start crackdown against profiteers and hoarders in the respective districts.
The Chief Minister of Sindh stated that the administration should ensure the sale of commodities at fixed prices, I and he himself will suddenly go out to check the prices.
Murad Ali Shah has directed that there should be no load shedding during Suhr and Iftar throughout the province, K-Electric, Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (HESCO) and Sukkur Electric Supply Company (SEPCO) should maintain the electricity system in their respective areas during Ramadan.
