Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed indignation over the recent increase in the price of gas and decided to review the performance of Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) and gas companies.

The Prime Minister issued orders to the Ministry of Energy to complete 16 tasks in one to three months.

It was directed to submit a forensic audit report on the recent hike in gas prices within a month.

Shehbaz Sharif has directed to immediately set up an inter-ministerial commission to monitor the Iran-Pakistan Gas Pipeline project, while it has also been asked to submit a plan to develop a new industrial zone to utilize the surplus electricity within a month.

The Prime Minister ordered the Power and Petroleum Division to find a solution to the revolving debt within two weeks and to submit a report on gas infrastructure, gas theft and poor performance within two weeks.
