Imran says some party members in contact with rivals want to dismantle PTI

Islamabad: Imran Khan, the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and former Prime Minister, revealed that certain members within his party were in contact with adversaries with intentions to dismantle the organization.

Khan disclosed this information during a conversation with journalists held at Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi on Saturday.

“These people accused Bushra bibi of being an American agent,” said Khan while mentioning the disloyal elements within PTI.

Despite differences, Khan expressed willingness to meet with anyone, citing his previous interactions with former Army Chief General (retired) Qamar Javed Bajwa.

Emphasizing the gravity of the current situation, Khan stressed its significance for Pakistan. While critical of General (retired) Bajwa for what he perceived as betrayal, Khan refrained from drastic actions and highlighted efforts to engage with him through committee formations, underscoring his preference for avoiding confrontation with the military.

In response to inquiries, Khan disclosed being briefed by Bajwa and former ISI Chief Lieutenant-General Faiz Hamid regarding alleged corruption involving Asif Ali Zardari and the Sharif family. Khan also alleged attempts to diminish PTI's mandate during the February 8 elections.

Accusing authorities of targeting his wife, Khan claimed that her sentencing was orchestrated to undermine him.

He commended judges of the Islamabad High Court for raising concerns about alleged interference by intelligence agencies in judicial affairs, particularly in light of recent security threats.

Khan also vowed to take legal action against the chairman of the National Accountability Bureau and an alleged approver in the Toshakhana case.
