May 9: Petition against cancellation of Imran's interim bail set for hearing
The court overruled the registrar's office's objection to Imran Khan's bail
Lahore: The Lahore High Court (LHC) Thursday scheduled a hearing on July 22 against the request of Imran Khan, the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), against the release of interim bail in three cases of May 9.
In the LHC, a hearing was held on the petitions filed against the discharge of interim bails in three cases of PTI founder Imran Khan on May 9.
The court overruled the registrar's office's objection to Imran Khan's bail.
The objection from the Registrar's Office stated that the applications do not have the thumbprints of former Prime Minister Imran. A copy of the First Information Report (FIR) has not been attached in a case.
The two-member bench overruled the objection and directed to fix the petitions against the cancellation of interim bails of founder PTI on July 22.
It is pertinent to note that Imran Khan challenged the decision of the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in the LHC, stating that the trial court had dismissed the bail against the facts in the May 9 cases.
In the petition, the court was requested that the LHC should grant interim bail to PTI founder Imran Khan.
Notably, the cases against Jinnah House, Askari Tower and Shadman Police Station of Lahore have been registered against Imran Khan. On July 6, the ATC rejected the bail of PTI founder in three cases after the arguments of the lawyers were completed.
